biography
Albert Mouhadeb was born in 1952 in Lebanon and was brought up by his parents as the sixth of seven children. In 1970 the family immigrated to Israel.
After spending some time in a Kibbutz he was recruited to the army and after two years released on health grounds. He then became a diamond cutter and after working in the profession a couple of years moved to Mexico joining the business of his brother who had moved there. After six years of successfully working there, the business collapsed and he subsequently suffered a mental breakdown. His father came and brought him back home to Israel in 1979, where he went back to live with his parents.
While being treated for his mental condition, he was encouraged by his father to acquire a profession he became an hair dresser. When starting a treatment in a mental health hospital his mental health stabilized and he became a regular out patient in the hospital . He joined an Art Therapy group and found his vocation. Since then and for the last 25 years Albert has been painting regularly, having discovered a new world through art. Painting became his vocation and devotion.
Mouhadeb’s works have been exhibited in France in 1999 and in 2007, in Belgium in 2000 and in Israël in 2011 and in 2012. At present, the christian berst art brut gallery is exclusively presenting Albert Mouhadeb in France.
