Not a lot of things is known about him, he was born in Nassau County (NY) ; and he dropped out of school at the age of sixteen to become a farm woeker, upholsterer than construction painter.
Picking up some stones polished by the river water, he sculpted these polished stones to extract numerous faces and people like he was creating a population, his own witnesses, his sea gods . These mineral figures might been considered as the water memory ? The mystery is still complete such was his life .
His artwork have been soon recognised in 1983 in the Jay Johnson’s major book, American Folk art of the 20th Century (Rizzoli’ editions)
